The windshield wiper motor in some General Motors SUVs can fail prematurely due to excessive freeplay between the internal worm and spur gears. As the drive shaft with the worm moves up and down, the freeplay stresses the individual teeth on the plastic spur gears and can even increase to the point of damaging the motor's copper windings. This OE FIX wiper and transmission assembly reduces the freeplay by holding tighter manufacturing tolerances and by incorporating a special stop block within the motor's casing to limit shaft travel.
